No Scalpel Vasectomy is an in office procedure for men for elective sterilization. Prior to this procedure the patient is given a mild oral sedative and during the procedure a local anesthetic is given to the vas deferens a tubular structure that conducts sperm from the testis to the prostate. This tube is then divided to prevent the sperm from making the migration to the prostate and thereby helping to prevent future pregnancies.
